Shelburne Farms is a nonprofit education organization located on a 1,400-acre working farm, forest, and National Historic Landmark along the shores of Lake Champlain. Visitors are welcome to enjoy miles of walking trails, a Children's Farmyard (with farm activities scheduled throughout each day), various tours, extensive programs and events, and of course, samples of their award-winning cheddar cheese, which is made right on the property from the milk of their Brown Swiss cows. General admission includes access to the walking trails, Children's Farmyard, historic Farm Barn, and cheesemaking. At the Farm Cart in the Farm Barn, visitors can also purchase simple lunches made from fresh ingredients grown on the Farm, or stop in at O Bread Bakery for some European breads from their hearth oven. The Inn at Shelburne Farms is the Farm's guesthouse--it welcomes visitors for farm-to-table dining as well as overnight stays. The Coach Barn hosts some of Vermont's top food events, along with educational events and conferences related to sustainability. There's a lot to do! Check out the website to plan ahead for your activities. The mission of Shelburne Farms is to inspire and cultivate learning for a sustainable future.
